Every employer must ensure they have suitably trained personnel available to provide first aid to ill or injured employees. The course is designed to meet the legal requirements of the employer as laid down by the Health and Safety Executive. Using realistic and hands on training, participants will develop confidence in their new skills. This confidence will allow the first - aider to apply their first aid skills and knowledge to respond promptly, safely and effectively in the event of an emergency at work.

Aim
On completion of the course the participant will successfully be able to respond safely, promptly and effectively to the following:

- An emergency occurring in the work place
- A person taken ill at work
- A casualty who
: is unconscious
: is not breathing
: is bleeding
: has a burn or scold
: has a fracture
: is suffering from shock
: has an eye injury
: comes into contact with a poison
: moving and handling

First Aid at Work Requalifying Course 12 hours – HSE Approved

Reduced prices for group bookings& the unemployed.                                This course is designed for first - aiders who wish to re-qualify and renew their present first aid certificate. Training concentrates on updating the key principles of first aid in line with the Health and Safety Executive. Participants will regain the skills and knowledge to confidently respond to an emergency or illness in the work place.

Aim
On completion of the course participants will be refreshed in the requirements of first aid and will be able to respond safely, effectively and promptly to the following:

- An emergency in the work place
- A person taken ill at work
- A casualty who
: is not breathing
: is suffering from shock
: has a burn or scold
: has a fracture
: comes into contact with a poison

Emergency Aid at Work (EFAW) 6 hour course.

First Aid at Work Annual Refresher 3 hour course

  

Due to " First Aid Skill Fade" The Health & Safety Executive now recommend that all  first – aider's attend annual refresher training.

It is our intention to help first aiders practice their knowledge and skills in simulated realistic incidents, accidents and illnesses in their own working environment

Course dates negotiable.


Moving and Handling Course

Back problems account for a third of workforce absence in the UK.

This course is aimed at personnel involved in lifting and moving equipment or people on site. Training your staff to handle objects and people correctly can reduce the risk of injury to your staff and is in line with the Manual Handling Regulations.

This course is designed to raise awareness of the Manual Handling Regulations and to promote good practice.

Aim

At the end of the session participants will be able to:
- understand and state the main requirements of the Manual Handling Regulations
- understand spinal anatomy, relevant structure and function
- demonstrate good Manual Handling techniques

First Aid for Childminders/Carers, 12 hours - Registered with the NCMA (National Childminders Association)

This course is designed for those people who work with young children.

Aim

Participants gain knowledge and skills in basic first – aid and childhood illness.

The course covers:
- unconscious infants and children
- resuscitation of infants and children
- bleeding
- choking
- fractures, strains and sprains
- illnesses such as diabetes, epilepsy etc.
- burns and scolds
- poisons

Course dates & weekend dates negotiable.


Pre School & Year 1 Safety in the Kitchen - for 3  to 6 year olds

Aim

To educate the children about  dangers of playing in the kitchen.

The Children are:

  • Shown a video, the dangers
  • Given advise of what to do if " mummy, daddy or carer" burn or cut themselves.
  • Asked to re-create Billy & Funny bones the Skeletons
  • Introduced to the Resus Family - Babies - Junior & Anne.
  • Shown a First aid Box and the Triangular bandage.

The presentation last approx 45 minutes.

We are charging for milage only, the presentations are FREE at present.
